KRO Kitchen Recycled plastic in harmony with a zero-waste philosophy

The collaboration with KRO Kitchen emerged naturally—from a shared need to find materials that make sense not only visually but also ethically. For the new KRO bistro in Prague’s Libeň district, Plastic guys panels were used for three tables and the bar counter—the focal points of any gastronomic space, where durability is key.

The impulse for this partnership came from the project’s architects. Recycled plastic as a material immediately caught their attention—not only for its aesthetics but primarily for how well it aligns with the zero-waste philosophy that KRO Kitchen is built upon. The result is an interior where sustainability isn’t performative; it functions naturally within the context of the entire space.

„It was the architects’ idea, and we really liked it. Visually, it works brilliantly and fits our zero-waste philosophy perfectly.“

A material that matches the brand’s DNA

For KRO Kitchen, all the primary characteristics of the panels were crucial: design, sustainability, durability, and customization. Here, recycled plastic panels are more than just a design element—they represent a material choice that reflects how KRO thinks about kitchen and bar operations.

The versatility of the material was a major advantage—the ability to choose specific colors, shapes, thicknesses, and textures. This allowed the panels to be perfectly synchronized with the architectural vision and the overall atmosphere of the bistro.

A seamless part of the interior

The processing and installation were carried out in collaboration with joiners, who found the material easy to work with using standard production processes. From the investor’s perspective, this was a new experience that has proven to be seamless and highly functional.

Compared to other materials used by KRO Kitchen—such as technical stone—Plastic guys panels are seen as a high-quality, long-term alternative with an equally promising lifespan.

Understated sustainability

Interestingly, regular visitors often don’t even notice that the material is recycled plastic at first glance. However, it consistently captures the attention of architects, designers, and journalists who appreciate its origin, concept, and technical execution. For a new establishment that has only been open for a short time, this is a natural progression.

For KRO Kitchen, sustainability is vital whether it is immediately visible or not. As they say, the circular economy is “essential”—in the kitchen, at the bar, and in the material choices made during interior design. Whenever a meaningful alternative exists, they prefer to take it.

„Sustainability and the circular economy are among our most fundamental topics. This applies to the kitchen, the bar, and the materials we choose to work with.“

A continuing partnership

This project is certainly not the last. The collaboration between Plastic guys and KRO Kitchen continues—the next project is already underway for the Alma Prague establishment.

We are delighted that recycled plastic can become a natural part of spaces that emphasize quality, responsibility, and a long-term approach to both design and operation.
