A Creative Interior with Its Own Light: Plastic Guys at the OLAF Studio Architectural Office
When you hear “architectural studio,” most people picture minimalism, monochrome color palettes, and austere materials. But OLAF studio, based in Prague’s Holešovice, sees it differently – and we were lucky enough to be a part of it.
We’ve known architect Jakub Grünwald since our days studying at FAST VUT, so when he came to us with the idea of incorporating our recycled panels into the interior of their new studio, we were thrilled to see the circle come full.
Design as a Magnet
Our recycled panels feature in two key elements: as a backlit panel in a furniture unit and as the tabletop in a meeting area. The lighting plays a crucial role in creating a striking visual effect – the panels act as a glowing object, almost like a neon sign, drawing attention from outside.
“Since our studio is directly adjacent to the sidewalk, the panels reliably catch the eyes of passersby – especially at night when they’re lit up,” says Jakub Grünwald.

Tailor-Made Down to the Last Detail
For this project, we created a special edition of our popular “Coffee with Milk” panel, enhanced with red accents. These light up beautifully and add a subtle yet bold energy to the space. The material also handled CNC milling and custom adjustments with ease – tailored perfectly to the design.
What made the difference was the teamwork: architect, carpenter Filip Maršálek, and our material came together in harmony, with everyone knowing exactly what needed to be done. The result? A functional, aesthetic, and character-rich solution that fits perfectly with the studio’s philosophy.
A Visual Experience with a Deeper Message
Our panels bring not just color, texture, and originality to the interior, but also a story – about circular economy and responsible production. And even if that’s not the first thing visitors notice, once they find out it’s recycled plastic, the reactions are overwhelmingly positive.
“Clients are often surprised – in a good way. They love the material, ask about it, and want to learn more. Compared to standard materials, it sparks conversation,” Jakub adds.

We’re genuinely proud of this collaboration – not just because of the result, but because we got to be part of a creative process that pushes the boundaries of interior design.
Thanks to OLAF studio and Jakub Grünwald for the trust – we’re excited to see what we come up with next.
