Off-space Introduced to Architects: When Design Begins With the Material

Plastic Guys x Lino Design – Prague, September 25, 2025

Sustainability in design is often treated as an add-on — something to consider only if there is time, budget, and interest. We believe in the opposite approach:
design should begin with the material, because that is what determines how far a product can go.

This belief sparked the creation of Off-space — developed with creative director Matěj Chabera — a furniture brand made from recycled plastic that asks a simple yet demanding question:

What can we create from a material we previously decided not to use anymore?

A presentation for those who shape spaces

At the end of September, we opened the LINO Design showroom in Karlín to architects and designers from the field. It was a pre-release of a brand preparing for its public debut — and we wanted to present it first to the people who work with furniture and materials every day.

This wasn’t a show. It was an open conversation about the future of interior materials.

During the evening, we presented for the very first time:

  • Unit — a modular chair that respects both function and playfulness
  • Emit — lighting born from waste
  • Origin — a return to the expressive texture and raw presence of recycled plastic

Off-space is not a flashy gesture. It is a systematic approach that connects aesthetics, material logic, and the new manufacturing possibilities of Mínus panels.

Design = responsibility. And also joy.

Architects were able to touch the products, feel their weight, stiffness, and the logic behind their construction. Each element carried a unique visual structure of recycled plastic and reminded us that beauty can begin where most things usually end — in the yellow recycling bin.

We also publicly revealed several new textures and formats that will enter the market fully in 2026 as Off-space expands into the world of furniture.

Why introduce Off-space before Designblok?

Because we want it to grow together with the community — with those who design homes, cafés, galleries, and hotels.

And this community at LINO confirmed that sustainable materials are the future of design — with no compromise in aesthetics, with responsible origin, and with a long, recyclable lifespan.

The evening was designed for a closed group of guests — not as a secret event, but as the first step in collaborations that will continue in real projects and installations.
Just a week later, we presented Off-space to the wider public at Designblok in the New Galaxy installation.

What’s next?

Off-space is still a young project — but with a clear direction:
to create design with long-term meaning, to develop products that respect the material, and to change the way we think about plastic.

In 2026, we will expand the collection with new furniture pieces, larger panel formats and textures, and new collaborations. And we believe that many of them will begin with the people who stood with us at the beginning in LINO.

Thank you to everyone who became part of the first chapter of Off-space.
We look forward to the projects ahead.
