Plastic guys Are Expanding — Proving That Recycled Plastic Belongs in Premium Design

Their unique panels made from 100% recycled plastic have found their way into cafés, offices, and public spaces. Plastic guys, a Brno-based startup founded by Marco Aulisa and Ondřej Venclík, are proving that recycling can be not only ecological but also aesthetically and economically attractive. And demand for their products is growing far beyond the Czech Republic.

From their first experiments in pizza ovens during their studies at the Brno University of Technology to collaborations with global brands like Adidas, mmcité, and the restaurant network Ambiente, Plastic guys have gone through a remarkable evolution.

In 2024, the company partnered with Green0meter to measure the carbon footprint of its products. The results showed that producing a single 32 kg recycled plastic sheet saves 60.29 kg of CO₂ emissions, confirming the environmental benefits of their circular approach.

The panels from Brno have become popular among architects and designers across Europe thanks to their durability and stone-like appearance. Plastic Guys create them from a material that combines aesthetics, functionality, and circular economy principles.

These panels are not only durable and eco-friendly but also recyclable up to seven times. A key advantage is that they are made from a single plastic group without additives, making them unique on the market. They can be used both indoors and outdoors.

You can find them as a luxurious backlit bar in Madama Cristina in Brno, in the modern Japanese restaurant Moshi Moshi by SMLXL in Prague, or in the minimalist ONES Concept Design Store showroom.

A Year Full of Innovation

Plastic guys have a clear mission: to change how people see plastic waste and to prove that even recycled materials can become premium, functional design products. They emphasize local production with a global vision — instead of exporting products, they plan to establish local manufacturing units abroad. And it seems they’re well on their way.

The year 2025 will be full of innovation for Plastic guys. They plan to launch the largest production format in the world, introduce new surface textures expanding the use of recycled plastic sheets in both interior and exterior design, and enter the furniture design segment with two new in-house brands that blend sustainability with premium aesthetics.

In addition to product innovations, they’re preparing a series of events for architects and designers in Brno, Prague, and Bratislava focused on the future of sustainable materials. They’ll also appear at prestigious international fairs, where they’ll present their latest innovations and push the boundaries of sustainable design.

Recycled Plastic as the Material of the Future

The Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025 proved that sustainability is no longer a trend — it’s the new standard of modern design. Recycled plastics were showcased as a full-fledged component of top-tier design, not a compromise.

“The Scandinavians are two planets ahead when it comes to sustainability,”
says Vít Gilánik, Commercial Director of Plastic guys.
“Recycling isn’t a passing fad — it’s a necessity.”

According to Ondřej Venclík, people are finally beginning to understand that recycled plastic can be both innovative and aesthetically appealing. Through their collaboration with mmcité, Plastic guys have demonstrated just how far recycled materials can go.

The Stockholm Furniture Fair 2025 confirmed that the future of design belongs to sustainable solutions, and Plastic guys are ready to shape it.

Recycling and Innovation on the Government’s Radar

Plastic guys recently had the honor of welcoming the Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic, Mgr. Petr Hladík, to their production site. His visit was a great opportunity to showcase their showroom, manufacturing process, and unique approach to plastic recycling — as well as to spark a conversation about the future of sustainability and circular economy in the Czech Republic.

The minister not only observed the technology and results of their work but also tried out the production process himself. The company is proud to be part of the national dialogue on sustainability and looks forward to more inspiring collaborations.
