myTreedk Ostrava Dental Clinic wins the Czech Interior Award – and Plastic guys were part of the journey

Recycled design in practice: Plastic guys and the myTreedk dental clinic project

When people think of plastic in an interior, they usually imagine something cold, impersonal, and industrial. But what if we told you that plastic—in the form of recycled boards from Plastic guys—played a key role in a project where Atelier 3M just won the Public Award at the Czech Interior Award 2025?

Architecture with a deeper meaning

The design for this project came from Atelier 3M. We had the chance to discuss the entire process at a Plastic Guys event at Kumst in Brno. Together with Martin Hudák and Michaela Pekařová, we explored their creative approach to design and innovation—it was an incredibly inspiring and engaging discussion!

“After all these years of doing this, it was time to reflect on whether we are wasting materials unnecessarily. So, when we discovered Plastic Guys, it immediately made sense.”

Martin Hudák

Although plastic hadn’t featured in their previous projects, its resistance to disinfectants, ease of maintenance, and—in this case—the ability to adapt in color and texture, earned it a permanent spot in the clinic’s design.

To manufacture the furniture for the dental clinic, we processed 4.6 tons of plastic waste. To put that in perspective, it is equivalent to:

  • 1,155,000 yogurt cups,
  • 330,000 toothbrushes,
  • 115,500 PET bottles.

Bold colors, recycled materials, and millimeter precision

The boards in myTreedk Ostrava appear in dozens of variations—from subtly transparent structures to wild color transitions between pink, yellow, blue, and green. They were designed with such precision that the colors “flow” from one surgery to another. It was a completely original gradient system—one board might start as 100% yellow, gradually shifting to pink, then blue, green… and back again.

“You don’t often see a project this colorfully bold. And that’s exactly what’s beautiful about it—no one was afraid.”

Michaela Pekařová

The panels were meticulously mapped out for each individual piece of furniture. Every piece had its precise marking to ensure that everything transitioned perfectly in such a complex mosaic of colors. As the team says: “If there’s a mistake anywhere, no one has noticed it yet.”

Collaboration that exceeded expectations

Atelier 3M is known for its emphasis on creativity, responsibility, and sustainability. When they looked for a partner who could turn their vision into reality, they reached out to us. Our recycled panels met their expectations perfectly.

When Plastic Guys began working with Atelier 3M, no one knew that in less than a year, we would create something that serves as an inspiration for the entire industry. There were obstacles at the start—format sizes, thickness, air bubbles—but they were all overcome one by one.

“Now you can even bend the material, so we can finally take it to the next level. We’re looking forward to large-format applications, shower stalls, partitions… the material can handle more than we originally thought.”

Martin Hudák

It’s not just about technology—it’s about mindset. It’s about sustainability, rethinking waste, the future of construction, and the relationship with local suppliers.

“The fact that you are based in Brno was key for us. We aren’t shipping it from across the world. You develop it here, with us. That is the most important thing.”

The Result? A Czech Design Gem

The myTreedk Ostrava dental clinic isn’t just a practical healthcare facility. It is a place that inspires, changes perceptions of what a medical office should look like, and sets new standards for sustainability in public spaces. Plastic guys are proud to have been part of this journey.
