Loklok & Plastic Guys: From Unused PET Bottles to Design Tables with a Story
Sometimes even “unsuccessful” material can be turned into something meaningful. That’s exactly the case with the collaboration between Plastic Guys and Brno-based Loklok, who decided to transform their unusable PET bottles into unique design café tables. Today, you can find them at Piknik Box and Zastávka cafés in Pasohlávky.
Saving PET Bottles with a Taste for Purpose
Loklok faced an issue with PET bottles that didn’t meet the technical requirements for bottling their kombucha. As Michal from Loklok explains: “The PET bottles couldn’t hold the bubbles properly, and the flavor wasn’t right, so to maintain quality, we returned to glass. But what to do with thousands of unused bottles?” The answer came through collaboration with Plastic Guys.
“We already knew each other from JIC events in Brno, and Plastic Guys were the obvious choice,” adds Michal. Together, we transformed the PET bottles into recycled plastic panels, which became the base for original café tables.
Design That Stands Out – and Lasts
The tables combine transparent plastic with black bottle caps, creating a texture reminiscent of stracciatella. They’re durable, practical, and ready to withstand demanding outdoor conditions – sun or rain. “Both cafés love them – not just for their look, but because each table carries a story that makes sense,” says Michal.
And when their time is up, that’s not the end. As part of our TAKE BACK program, we can recycle the panels again – up to ten times.
Sustainability as a Mindset That Stands Out – and Lasts
We saved 32 kilograms of plastic – that’s about 1,600 PET bottles. Each table delivers a clear message: even single-use packaging deserves a second life. And once it’s done serving its purpose, it comes back to us. The panels can be recycled again – up to 10 times.
This project was born from a genuine desire to prevent unnecessary waste. Even though Loklok doesn’t work in architecture, sustainability is one of their core values – a mindset that perfectly aligns with Plastic Guys.

You can check out the tables in person at Piknik Box in Brno or Zastávka café in Pasohlávky. Each one tells a slightly different story, but they’re all united by one idea: design from waste that makes sense.
